Susan in Japan

1st April 2010

This morning Susan took a stroll through the gardens by the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. The sun was shining and the whole city was out to parade under the blossoms. Tokyo sits under a canopy of cherry blossoms this week. Next week the blossoms drop and cover the streets in pale pink confetti so it is a real privilege to be here right now.

After taking a walk along the peaceful river path, Susan ventured into Tokyo’s busiest district, Shibuya. For those who have never visited this bustling area, it is alive with sounds, visuals, digital displays, masses of people and more traffic than you can imagine! Susan loved it and said, “Oh it’s a real buzz here - you could only take it ion small doses though!”.

After a quick bite of lunch, Susan began vocal warm ups and headed off to rehearsal at the Budokan hall. She was nervous - the hall is immense and the Yomiuri orchestra very impressive - but once she took to the stage she was completely at home in her environment.

She is currently backstage having her hair and makeup done in anticipation of the big performance!

Will keep you posted!
