22nd February 2011
Hello All,
I thought it was time to tell you all a little bit about what I have been up to lately. It might seem that I have been very quiet but I have actually been quite busy behind the scenes!
I have already begun work on my next album. I can’t tell you what songs will be as I have just started to discuss that with my A&R man. We always start an album in this way; we have meetings to discuss the song choices and he’s always very keen to ensure that each of the songs on an album mean something important to me. I think it’s important for a singer to have a connection to what they are singing. It’s great, because I can become really involved in the process. We listen to songs that I have always loved, we listen to new songs that writers have put forward and we make the choices together along with my manager Andy. What I can tell you is that I will be recording the album with Steve Mac again – third time around! We are getting rather good at working together these days. I always look forward to recording as I feel like the studio is my home. I love perfecting the songs, trying out different things vocally, and Steve knows how to bring out the best in me. We are about to start recording so I will let you know how it comes along.
I have seen a lot of chat on the forums about whether or not it is me singing the tune to the Third Man in a Japanese advertisement for Yebisu Beer – and I can confirm that it is me! The offer came via Sony Japan and it just seemed like a bit of fun – I really enjoyed it. I didn’t expect anyone to really notice but you are an investigative bunch! I didn’t expect to receive so many lovely compliments about it though – so thank you very much!
I am very much looking forward to the Scottish Variety Awards. I have been fortunate enough to be asked to come along and perform. It’s really an honour especially as these awards represent my country as well as the entertainment industry. It’s on March 19th. It won’t be televised as it is a very low key affair but I understand that some of you have already booked your flights and have tickets to the event – some of you are even coming from as afield as Texas! I look forward to seeing you there.
There are a few other projects which I am itching to tell you about but have to keep under wraps for now - all will become clear soon – needless to say, I am very excited!
And on that teaser I would like to wish you all well and look forward to speaking to you again soon.
Love,
Susan
